Has anyone seen the new iPad on the apple website yet?
http://www.apple.com/ipad/
Next question is would you ever think about buying it?

I saw a video of two guys playing with it at the presentation and was not at all impressed. Too big and heavy to want to carry around all the time and doesn't do half what the IPhone does.
I don't have an IPhone because I don't need one but my daughter and granddaughter do.
So far the techies are not impressed with the IPad. |

I love it! and I love anything Apple since I got my iphone 6 months ago. I fought management tooth and nail when they wanted to dole out dollars for iMacs for our developers. I needed the money for new Cisco hardware - necessary stuff, like a new firewall and some new servers since the old ones were groaning under their workload as their motherboards wouldn't even allow me to soften the load with some more memory. Besides, as the IT manager, I am allowed to grumble whenever they want to add something to what WAS my pristine Windows LAN environment.
I lost the iMac battle and when they arrived, I was less than excited to issue them to the developers who were stting on the edge of their seats. gnawing at their fingernails, to get them.
I have to declare, that my reluctance for a MAC presence on my network is sheer unadulterated jealousy. I want one too!
I am going to buy myself an iMac of my own one day..............when I have mortgaged my house and relegated my 5 PCS to recycling heaven.
The Ipad would be just so easy to toss into my handbag instead of the humungous laptop I have to lug around with me from one end of the world to the other. |

To be truthful it is like a huge iPhone.
It might be a joy to use (sort of what was said on the promo vids) but its design (IMO) is horrible!

I am a sucker for gadgets but I honestly see use for this device as an add-on to my current collection of computers.
I use my iphone much more than I used any other cell phone. As an 'on-the-go' device I store various bits of data on it that is always on hand. Most of you are avid photographers; I on the other hand am useless at photography but I use my iphone camera daily to: snap pics of seriel numbers, broken high voltage power connections that need replacing, drawings on the conference room white board that I want to remember etc etc etc ( I even have a picture of one of the managers who sits and sleeps at his desk between 10 and noon every day: irks me so much, I had to document the fact ) - I can text as fast as any teenager so sending short messages to my staff or daughter is a cinch. The only caveat for me is the small screen, so something larger is for me a huge bonus . I would be able to load all my tech manuals on an ipad and keep them handy..........just for starters. I see the value but I am a gadget junkie! |

Dianne,
There are different needs and it looks like the ipad is going to fill one for people that can use the features.
