My friend has a daughter that lives in the Aleutians Islands in Alaska. She visited there about Thanksgiving time. Her daughter is a member of a diving team that does research. Here are a couple of images she shared with me. It looks very cold! She was also the photographer that took these pictures, thanks you Sue Beatty for letting me sharing these.

Gorgeous.
Words can't describe how beautiful Alaska is. I have noticed from the weather reports and these pictures, Alaska gets sun during the winter but when we are there, it seems to be a mist or rain all the time.
Can't wait to go back but would love to see even more of it. |

Thanks for your comments, Sue will be most happy to hear that!
Sarah, she says the air changes so frequently that one minute the Sun is shining then clouds and wind, very windy. Yes it would be a nice place to visit, but not make it a home, at least for me anyway. I'll stay to my 10,000 lakes. |

I agree I couldn't live there but my daughter says she could sit and look at the icebergs forever.
Your area around the lakes is beautiful too but I have never been there. I can never live in a cold climate again.
Isn't it wonderful we don't all want to live in the same place? |

Sarah, yes I agree, different stroke for different folks. But we're all unique to say the least. |
