deci, or anyone else for that matter.

Could you explain to me what the difference between Photoshop (I use cs) and Photoshop elements? I don't mean every little detail but just basically. Thanks.

Basically M'lady, Elements is a stripped down version of Photoshop, without the so called 'pro' features (whatever they might be). I believe you can't (or couldn't in the early versions) access the curves command and such. I've never used it so can't say any more than that.
I saw the icons on the toolbar and that was enough to put me off, that and I've been using Photoshop for so long now its hard for me to change....... Not saying I use it all or even use it well, just for a long time, since v5.5.

Price is the difference! Elements has wonderful features, but if you are used to Photoshop, any version from 5 to CS4, you will be frustrrated using Elements. Trust me... catteeth

Kath I will agree with you there. I have had a go at the new Photoshop Elements and it was not as easy to use as CS4!

Thanks deci, kath and nik!
I'm not planning on switching to Elements. I like to do digitial scrapbooking and a lot of peole in that commnuity use PSE. I was just wondering what the difference was.

I have another question, please. I was reading on a forum how this woman lost all her stuff on her computer. There was a lot of talk about different back-up systems, EHD's, CD's, DVD's, online storage, etc.

I was wondering what y'all do. I mostly have mine stuff on CD's and DVD's but I here that's not very reliable. I have some more current stuff on hubby's EHD but he needs it for work and I'm afraid something might happen to that.

I started thinking about online but don't know which one to use. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I am now using PSE 7 and have since 5. It does have curves now. Since there is a huge difference in price I oon't see any reason to go with PS, I don't even know how to use everything in PSE.
For backup, I bought an external hard drive years ago. I back up My Documents which includes all my pictures and stuff. It is fast and easy and has all my important stuff when moving to a new computer. I tried Windows Easy Transfer but it didn't move everything arranged the way I want it.

M'lady, I got a couple of 1Tb external drives a couple of weeks ago - They only cost about 70 of Her Majestys Imperial Pounds each, as there seems to be a £/$ equivalence on things electronic I suppose you can the same over in those heathen lands. .......... I remember when I swopped from a 3Gb HDD to a mighty 13GB and it costing around £120 catteeth
