well. some of you might be rofl but here will some "farming" be going on. Next weekend I expect to end building my hen house. There will be, if I can find them, about 10 hybrid hens at the point of laying eggs and around 20 chickens Rhode Island Red. The plan is to end up with around 10 hens of those, the young roosters will be ................... in my belly
I'll get a independent rooster for them so I can grow my own chickens. I will also get a few Khaki Cambells ducks for egg. Their egg should be very healthy as they should be free from cholesterol. I would like to show you some of this as I go on but my camera is still in Poland but I can take some pics with my phone but as I do not have any webspace I need to find a place to put the photos.. |

Sounds very interesting. The chickens and eggs will be so much better than what we get in the stores.
When I was a kid and we had fried chicken they had been running around just a few hours before. I miss that. |

Love the idea of keeping ducks, but I grew up practically next door to a farmand know how noisy hens can be - so not to keen on that idea.
BTW - Eggs are NOT bad for your cholesterol..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7882850.stm..... damned glad about 'cos I love eggs.
Be about 5 months now, won't it till you get Victor and the Misses over? Just in time to start Christmas Shopping......... Lovely _________________ In the beginning there was nothing........ and then it exploded |

Tommy,
Growing up in sort of country area we had chickens most of the time. I was attacked by a big red rooster when I was about five years old. I ran for the back door but didn't get through in time. Was terrified...he grabbed my sholders with his talons and pecked my head all the while flapping his wings...the funny thing was my younger sister was forever scared of birds and I wasn't.
