As some of you know I am doing some traditional painting.... and I have been learning composition using dynamic triangles.... dynamic rectangles
I want to be able to reconstruct these on PS... is there any way I can move the diagonal line in an arc ??? keeping the bottom left point so it doesn't move!!!!!!Like a compass ... maybe some tool I don't know about!!!!

Hi Carol, I can't open your link to see the dynamic triangles! Your link says rectangles?
But I think you can use the ole transform tool for this. Not sure what you want to do. Maybe you can use Janee's protractor from her tutorial's for starters. I'll see if I can find some more info for you!!!
forgot to add the protractor link!

Thanks Jorgey..... I meant rectangles I tried the transform tool but it moves both points and may change the length when i move it...also thought about the protractor tool...but i don't know how it will help.....probably need a geometry software program..haven't found any!!!! Free!!!!

ok Carol, lets try this. Forget the transform tool. Here's a tut for the pen tool!
Pen tutorial
I know you want to make a line and then drag one end in a circle and make the other end stay in place, this might not be what your looking for either!
Anyone else with suggestions please step forward!!! |

Carol make your rectangle selection first and fill. Ctrl-T for transform tool. Right click inside your transform tool to bring up the Warp tool.
You can also choose transform selection under edit menu or right click inside selection with marquee tool active. This way your only warping the selection and not the actual image. Much cleaner.

Jorgey I downloaded the protractor but it isn't completed functional ...
Bonnie... thanks it not the triangles I need its the measurement... like if I were drawing on paper I would want to transfer the measurement of the side of rectangle to another side using a compass... say a rectangle
I want to transfer measure a-b to the line of a-c to mark e and then take measurement of a-e to mark that measurement on the b-d...line .... on my sketch it looks like its the same as d but you get the idea of what I am trying to draw... I don't think I can do this in PS

| Carol, couldn't you scan this into ps or use a program to trace? Artrage has a freebe that is not fully functional, you would have to buy the full version for $20.00 (dollars) but I think the freebe would have the capability to trace? Just a suggestion! |

Are you wanting to draw an Isosceles Triangle?
If so, I would draw the isosceles on paper using a real life protractor to measure the angles with the center point on the axis of a straight vertical line. |

Did you get it working right, Carol?
If I know you, you've completed the task and ran into another net. _________________ Bonnie |

Thanks for your interest!!! So far I have the digital rectangles in the computer and can upload them on my image...to see if they fit... What I really wanted was the ability to move a line keeping one point steady and moving the other point without changing its size /length like you would do manually with the aid of a compass/protractor...... all the transform tools don't work... what I do now is put the line on its layer.... activate>transform the angle so it is horizontal and move it the bottom of the rectangle..also measured it with info and then measured the line on the rectangle.... all very primitive
I'll get by....
